+ progress on the guidebook

The Outdoor Adventures Show was a huge success

I got to meet Cisco from Los Rios River Runners, the Managing Editor of the ABQ Journal, and many other excellent people - including the very first official member of the Santa Fe to Taos Thru-Hike!

I distributed more than 1,000 pieces of merch (postcards, information sheets, bookmarks, and stickers). Also got to hear wonderful stories and tips from people’s time in the backcountry. And got to practice explaining the thru-hike in 10 seconds or less about 500 times.

My booth, the big banner, and the projector showing images of the thru-hike at the NM Fish and Game Outdoor Adventures Show.

Memberships are available

Want to support the thru-hike? Become a member. You can sign up on the website here. Levels are:

  • $30 for Friend. Get an information packet, 11×17 map set, sticker, bookmarks, postcards.

The guidebook progresses

I will get the first test printed copy of the guidebook tomorrow. It has a few gaps, but it’s very, very close to being ready for beta/advance readers. If you have signed up to be a beta reader, look for an email about that next weekend.

The Santa Fe Ski Basin has gotten 94” of snow so far this season. That’s low, but not as bad as it could be. But it does suggest that the trails will be open a little earlier than usual this year, as there will be less snow to melt off.

Keep thinking snow, though. I am hoping for at least 120 inches before the Ski Basin stops measuring in April. I think we’ve got a great shot at that.

Thank you, as always, for your interest. Please excuse any typos; this was written from the Outdoor Adventures Show booth.

Best,
Pam Neely
